Behind the Brand


We’koqma’q is bringing our culture, talented artists, and creations to the masses through a new cultural gift shop, Amkwesowa’q Kisitu’titl (First People’s Creations).

We’ll share more of our story, branding, how things started, and how things are going soon. For now, here are a few things we want you to know.

To bring authentic Mi’kmaq culture and education to daily living through the sale of ethically sourced indigenous products.

To support the expansion of knowledge and education of Mi’kmaq arts and culture across the globe, while supporting the growth of our community and neighboring indigenous communities.

  • Work exclusively with Mi’kmaw artists for designs
  • Artist names and their First Nation affiliation on packaging
  • Cultural traditions are honoured by acknowledging cultural affiliation on product packaging.All artists have provided consent and contractual permission for their art to be featured
  • Every decision, agreement, and action taken by the shop will be in a way that shows respect, honour, and celebration of indigenous cultures
  • Artist-centric approach and 100% Indigenous designed products.
  • Builds business capacity among cultural artists while addressing the economic impact of cultural appropriation.
  • Built on a foundation of respect and authenticity.
  • Eco Friendly products will be a priority in any manufacturing that is needed.
